The Kibera Girls Soccer Academy provides a free holistic secondary education to 130 girls annually in the informal settlement of Kibera in Nairobi, Kenya. For years the girls dreamed of a dormitory and now it's finally reality.
In 2015, twenty-six individuals climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro raising money to construct a dormitory and provide safe housing for girls. There were many challenges along the way, but in February of 2020 we finally broke ground on the three-story building. Shortly afterwards, construction halted due to the pandemic, but resumed in December 2020. Thanks to your generous support through the years, the KGSA dormitory is finally constructed. The first 40 girls moved in at the end of July 2021 thanks to generous supporters like you who raised an initial $30,000!
The dormitory provides three meals a day and a safe and stable environment where the girls can thrive academically, physically, mentally and socially. The building has a school cafeteria and library on the bottom floor with dormitories and study spaces on the top two floors. The rooftop is a functional recreational area to play soccer, volleyball or basketball.
Please continue to partner with us to raise $22,500 to buy furniture and linens for the next 90 girls! It costs around $250 to purchase a bed, mattress, linens and pjs for each girl. With the 2020 seniors rocking their KCSE exams despite the challenges of the pandemic. imagine what all the girls can achieve living in a supportive, safe learning environment with 3 meals a day!
