The Kibera Girls Soccer Academy provides a free holistic secondary education to 130 girls annually in the informal settlement of Kibera in Nairobi, Kenya. For years the girls dreamed of a dormitory and now it's finally reality.

In 2015, twenty-six individuals climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro raising money to construct a dormitory and provide safe housing for girls. There were many challenges along the way, but in February of 2020 we finally broke ground on the three-story building. Shortly afterwards, construction halted due to the pandemic, but resumed in December 2020. Thanks to your generous support through the years, the KGSA dormitory is finally constructed. The first 40 girls moved in at the end of July 2021.

The dormitory provides three meals a day and a safe and stable environment where the girls can thrive academically, physically, mentally and socially. The building has a school cafeteria and prayer room on the bottom floor with dormitories and study spaces on the top two floors. The rooftop is a functional recreational area to play soccer, volleyball or basketball.

Violence against women and girls is rising in Kenya. KGSA knows this too well as we lost Senior Cynthia to gender-based violence in October of 2021. Girls learn better when they feel safe. We need your help to expand room and board to more girls! Please continue to partner with us to raise $43,750 to welcome more girls to the dormitory in 2022. Costs include one-time purchases like furniture and linens plus ongoing costs such as food, utilities and staffing. A donation of $250 provides a bed, mattress, linens and pjs for one girl. A contribution of $1,000 will provide room and board to one girl for a year. All amounts are appreciated and will help us make our goal!

The 2020 seniors rocked their KCSE exams despite the challenges of the pandemic. Just imagine what the girls can achieve living in a supportive, safe learning environment with 3 warm meals a day and a good night's sleep!
